KDW CHRISTMAS 2012

Welcome
to KDW's final blog for 2012

It's time to round-off the year and head for holidays.

This Christmas, as before, we offer support to Micah Projects, our local West End based Community Organisation which provides so many support services to the homeless, victims of domestic violence, families suffering poverty, the socially isolated amongst others.

The Micah Christmas Hamper Appeal is a great opportunity for us at KDW to give back to our local area and the disadvantaged around us.

KDW CELEBRATES MELBOURNE CUP "AT HOME"

THE KDW TEAM CELEBRATES MELBOURNE CUP

Our "At Home" Cup Celebration in the office with the team gathered around a cute little retro TV set:
Kathy, Helena (seated) Phoebe, Kirsti (at rear) and Colin. Each year we stop work for an hour or two and invite our office neighbours in for a truly Australian event. None of us has any idea about the race form, but we don't take it too seriously!

OUR LATEST PROJECT - JUJUBA

JUJUBA is the latest Asian restaurant designed by KDW

Previously a sad & abandoned restaurant in the HQ building on Wickham St, Valley, it has come alive with light and colour

Take a look at the transformation .................

Clusters of Pendants hanging from the vaulted ceiling attract patrons from the street

Coloured Surfaces climb from wall to ceiling
& glow like the sun, a strong cultural symbol.

Decorative Cut Screens separate the bar from booth areas

Pattern, Texture & Colour bring energy to previously unadorned surfaces

The Bar has taken on a detailed, glossy face

The extensive Kitchen has been re-worked for the preparation and cooking of Asian cuisine

It's now an energetic, light-filled space!

We thank our clients and wish them well in their new venture.

Restaurant Designs & More

We can't believe that so much of 2012 has passed since our last blog!
Guaranteed that our communications will be much more regular from now on.

We've had our heads down working on a range of new projects. If you happen to be shopping at Westfield Carindale you'll see one of them -the latest new Ginga Restaurant, one of Brisbane's best sushi restaurant chains. It's been a fantastic project and we are proud of the result.  More about that in our next blog! Here's a peek...

The last month has been a great opportunity for all of us to catch up on what's the latest in the design world in Australia and overseas. We've visited Designex in Sydney, the largest gathering of new, innovative design ideas in the country and then our own Brisbane In Design weekend right here.

So many great new ideas and products we're itching to incorporate into our work!

The event also gave us an opportunity to let the creative spirit run loose. Zenith Interiors held a competition to Get Inspired and create a Design around their newest chair.
Kirsti and Helena got inspired and  created a fabulous response, working hard to arrive at a
really innovative idea for KDW.

Judging on the day was hard, competition was strong, and even though they weren't the final winners, their entry with its bright yellow leg and back put up a fight. Congratulations to both Kirsti and Helena for a great job.

We'll keep in touch with our readers again very soon to keep you up to date with all that's new at KDW.

Bye from all of us.
