This Autumn Weekend has been perfect  to take in a visit to Sydney to see one of  Australia's most prestigious Art prizes -The Archibald at the Art Gallery of NSW
With weather you just couldn't beat and everyone out and about, Sydney was inspiring and energetic. It's a great city.

But ....back to the Art:
It's subjective - that's a given, so with that in mind, here is KDW's pick:

Our Winner: John Emmerig's portrait of Justice Stephen Gaegler entitled "Gaegler" for it's raw strength, and powerful contrast of colour. The steely character of this man shows. His gaze is humble but direct. Beautiful looseness combined with restraint. A definite winner!

Keeping up with Design

We're always keeping up with the latest at KDW. It's our responsibility to know about the newest products, ideas, standards and trends in design.

A few nights ago, at EQUINOX, Brisbane's first event like this for the year, we could do just that.

What a venue for EQUINOX this time!

It's easy to recognise where.......

The newly renovated City Hall was transformed into a display-fest where architects and designers mingled, chatted, and learnt from manufacturers, suppliers and innovators. It's a great chance to collect new inspiration for office, dental, cafe and retail design.

Innovations from Signature Floors - custom printed carpets -.... Andy Warhol here?...gave lots of inspiration to customise pattern and colour in flooring.

Lots to talk over: a new louvre style from Breezway, Polyflor's commercial flooring range, new colours from Concrete Colour Systems, Lamicolour's ever expanding range of Laminates, Decor Blinds' shutters and shades and fantastic new timber veneers from New Age Veneers.
Heaps of others too.

It was a great learning night with a bit of fun thrown in.

And a chance to see colours transform the City Hall dome.
